The American Saddle , which originated in the United States, was formed by crossing Thoroughbreds, Morgans, and Standardbreds on native mares possessing an easy gait. The American Saddle is 15 to 16 hands (5 to 5.3 feet, or 1.5 to 1.6 metres) in height. Its colours are bay, brown, black, gray, and chestnut.
